A Career Spy Describes How He Used Seiko and Rolex Watches as Tools in the Business of Intelligence

Chris Costa is a former US Army Case Officer who served in and led some of the US intelligence community's most elite units. His career included deployments spanning both Gulf Wars, the Global War on Terror, and the Horn of Africa before going on to senior intelligence leadership positions in government.

One constant throughout Costa’s incredible career was his use of watches as tools of timing and influence, including a Seiko “Turtle” 6309 he wore as a young rifle platoon leader and the Rolex Submariner he wore for most of his 35 years in government service.

In our new video on the W.O.E. YouTube Channel, we sat down with Costa, now the executive director of the International Spy Museum, to learn more about his life and watches. Because for an intelligence officer, a watch is never just a watch.
